Zentangles

I just bought the book, Zenspirations by Joanne Fisk.  She is the master of Zentangles.  For those of you who dont know what they are, basically its the art of doodling.  You can spend endless hours of doodling making the coolest creations.  You can also use it for the alphabet, which is shown below.

You can also use it on simple images such as hearts or stars.  I did it with a heart and used alcohol inks as my background.  I used  a white marker to create the heart and did my doodling.  Circles, swirls, lines, dots, waves, are all simple patterns of doodling, aka....Zentangles.

This is great for the beginning artist because it makes even the simpler shapes look complicated!
